The Pi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi, at Indiana University, currently boasts a membership count of over 130 outstanding young men. Our collective involvement in leadership positions on campus continues to grow alongside the character of our members. Our involvement umbrellas countless campus outlets including: IUSA Supreme Court, Investment Banking Workshop, Global Sales Workshop, Investment Management Workshop, Real Estate Workshop, Kelley Honors Program, The Board of Aeons, Timmy Global Health, Campus Outreach, and Men Against Rape and Sexual Assault. We are excited to welcome Beta brothers back to Bloomington and into our house as we embark on the upcoming school year. We humbly reflect upon our progress and achievements over the course of the previous year.

In the fall of 2015, we finished with a 3.311 collective GPA and closed out the spring semester with a 3.223, which is outstanding. Our display of philanthropic attitudes and appreciation for our alumni’s support caught the attention of the university; we received GAAP Awards for both Outstanding Philanthropy and Alumni Relations. Also, our dedicated Little 500 bike team finished seventh overall and the recently graduated senior riders paved the way for our eager, rookie members to remain competitive while representing our chapter. Additionally, our diverse membership regards philanthropy as a pillar of our brotherhood.

The Pi Chapter, in conjunction with other Greek organizations, holds a long-standing history of collective, philanthropic efforts that possess newsworthy and influential fundraising power. Our most recognized project, Dropping The Puck On Cancer, remains geared toward funding the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA). We gifted $60,000 to ABTA and the project continues to expand with the addition of six undergraduate operational committees: Logistics, Fund Development, Apparel and Graphic Design, Marketing, Community Outreach, and ABTA Relations. Also, our chapter raised and contributed $33,000 through our Face Off For The Forces event in support of The Wounded Warrior Project. Furthermore, our previous Philanthropy Chairman headed efforts to expand our charitable donations beyond monetary contributions and broadened our influence within the community by donating nearly 100 service hours to Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County.

We are a progressive and dynamic chapter, and are adjusting our culture in response to voluntary changes as well as new administrative regulations. Our chapter altered our executive board’s terms to coincide with the school year in an effort to encourage older members of our chapter to run for executive positions and to facilitate a smoother transition for future executive teams. We also hired and provided living arrangements for a new live-in housing manager, James Thomas, who will also act as a liaison between our members, the university, and our housing corporation.

Administrative changes aside, the Pi Chapter strives to maintain positive university relations, extend campus and community involvement, and increase accountability while developing ourselves as students and Men of Principle.

Yours in _Kai_,
